BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 31, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 31. The Legislature may pass laws prescribing the | ||
qualifications of practitioners of medicine in this State, and to | ||
punish persons for mal-practice, but no preference shall ever be | ||
given by law that abridges the right of: | ||
(a) an individual to seek advice from or to choose any | ||
health care treatment or modality; or | ||
(b) the right of any provider to advise an individual | ||
or to offer a particular treatment or modality[ |

SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2013. | ||
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
proposition: "The constitutional amendment allowing adult | ||
individuals to choose a health care treatment or modality." |
