proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature | ||

punishment to certain individuals serving a term of imprisonment. | ||
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by | ||
adding Section 33 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 33. The legislature by general law may provide for a | ||
court to grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals | ||
serving a term of imprisonment. | ||
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held on | ||
November 7, 2023. The ballot shall be printed to provide voting | ||
for or against the proposition: "The constitutional amendment | ||
authorizing the legislature to enact laws providing for a court to | ||
grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals serving a | ||
term of imprisonment." |
