proposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit governmental | ||
entities from spending public money on legislative lobbying. | ||
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is amended by | ||
adding Section 74 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 74. A governmental entity may not spend public money to | ||
directly or indirectly influence or attempt to influence the | ||
outcome of any legislation pending before the legislature. The | ||
legislature may enact laws to implement this section. | ||
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | ||
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit the use of | ||
public money by governmental entities for legislative lobbying." |
