R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud residents of Liberty County are gathering in
  Austin on February 19, 2025, to celebrate Liberty County Day at the
  State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Liberty County was established in 1836 as part of
  the independent Republic of Texas, with Liberty as the county seat.
  Originally, the county included all of what would become Tyler
  County and parts of Hardin, Chambers, San Jacinto, and Polk
  Counties; and
         WHEREAS, Located midway between Beaumont and Houston,
  Liberty County is divided by the Trinity River and features both
  Coastal Prairie and Big Thicket landscapes. The economy initially
  thrived on crops like cotton, sugarcane, and tobacco, as well as
  lumber and cattle. In the early 1900s, it diversified with the
  increased cultivation of rice and the discovery of oil and natural
  gas; and
         WHEREAS, Liberty County boasts a rich history and abundant
  natural resources, and its residents can take great pride in their
  achievements as they continue to work toward an even brighter
  future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Liberty County
  Day at the State Capitol and extend sincere best wishes to the
  visiting delegation for a meaningful and memorable stay in Austin.
