R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The city of Euless lost one of its most admired
  citizens with the passing of Donna Mickan on January 6, 2013, at the
  age of 69; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Georgetown, the former Donna Bishop was
  born to Willie and Cleo Bishop on July 31, 1943, and she grew up with
  the companionship of two brothers, Clinton and Troy; she married
  Randell Mickan, and they moved to Euless in 1964; the couple shared
  more than five decades together and were devoted parents to their
  children, Marianne and Randell; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Mickan enjoyed a career at Trinity High School
  before retiring, and she co-owned and operated Bloomtown Florist in
  the Euless Town Center in 1981; in addition to her professional
  duties, she found time to give back to her community as a member of
  the Economic Development Advisory Board and the Historical
  Preservation Committee; moreover, she was a former president of the
  Morrisdale Homeowners Association, and she frequently volunteered
  as a docent at historic Heritage Park; a graduate of the Euless
  Citizens Fire-Police Academy, she was active in the Citizens Fire
  and Police Academy alumni associations; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Mickan was elected to Place 4 on the Euless City
  Council in 2008; over the course of her two terms, she acted as a
  liaison to the Grapevine-Colleyville school district and
  represented the council on the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Teen Court
  Advisory Board; she also held the office of mayor pro tempore in
  2011; and
         WHEREAS, In her leisure time, Mrs. Mickan enjoyed traveling,
  playing the piano, and singing in the choir at First United
  Methodist of Hurst, where she was an administrative board member;
  sustained by a deep and abiding faith, she helped comfort and
  counsel others as a Stephen Minister; and
         WHEREAS, Although Donna Mickan will be greatly missed, her
  kind words and deeds will continue to serve as a source of
  inspiration for all those who were blessed to share in the richness
  of her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Donna Mickan and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Randell Mickan, Sr.; to her children, Marianne Priddy and
  her husband, Michael, and Randell Mickan, Jr., and his wife, Kelly;
  to her grandchildren, Mitchell Priddy, Michelle Priddy, Erin
  Mickan, and Samantha Mickan; to her brothers, Clinton Bishop and
  his wife, Adale, and Troy Bishop; and to her other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Donna
  Mickan.
