| WHEREAS, A 75th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of | ||
| mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Lyle and Colleen | ||
| McGuffin of Kerrville celebrated this joyous milestone in their | ||
| marriage on November 24, 2010; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Their first meeting occurred at a grocery store | ||
| owned by Mr. McGuffin when the future Mrs. McGuffin was only 17; the | ||
| pair courted through letters and visits before they married in 1935 | ||
| and went on their honeymoon to Monterrey, Mexico; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The McGuffins joined the Church of Christ in 1967 | ||
| and made a dramatic change in their lives; they were soon able to | ||
| leave their jobs and move to Africa, where Mr. McGuffin attended the | ||
| Southern Africa Bible College and became a missionary; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Now back in Kerrville, where they are valued members | ||
| of Riverside Church of Christ, the couple have a host of interests | ||
| that include supporting mission work in China and elsewhere and the | ||
| progress of the Southern Africa Bible College; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. McGuffin have enjoyed seven and a half | ||
| decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are | ||
| among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a | ||
| lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Lyle and Colleen McGuffin on their | ||
| 75th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. and Mrs. McGuffin as an expression of high regard | ||
| by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
