WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Joseph Wallace Fields Jr. of Clint on April 13, 2014, at | ||
the age of 85; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born in El Paso on November 22, 1928, to Joseph and | ||
Fern Fields, "Jodie" Fields graduated from Clint High School in | ||
1946 and went on to answer his nation's call to duty as a member of | ||
the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska for two years during the Korean | ||
War; and | ||
WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Fields | ||
married the former Sue Botsford, with whom he shared a rewarding | ||
union of nearly six decades; the couple became the proud parents of | ||
two children, Mike and Linda, and with the passing years, they were | ||
further blessed with five treasured grandchildren, Alexis, | ||
Kaitlyn, Lauren, Zach, and William; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Fields enjoyed a fulfilling career as a farmer | ||
that spanned more than a half-century, and he further distinguished | ||
himself through his community involvement, serving as a member of | ||
the board of directors of the First National Bank in Fabens and as a | ||
valued congregant and trustee of Bond Memorial United Methodist | ||
Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Jodie Fields will be deeply missed, | ||
cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in | ||
the hearts of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jodie Fields and | ||
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his | ||
wife, Sue Fields; to his children, Mike Fields and his wife, Holly, | ||
and Linda Makrides and her husband, Nick; to his grandchildren, | ||
Alexis, Kaitlyn, and Lauren Makrides and Zach and William Fields; | ||
to his sister-in-law, Sally Botsford; and to his other relatives | ||
and many friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joseph | ||
Wallace Fields Jr. | ||
