WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories | ||
of Robert W. Woolsey of Corpus Christi, who passed away on March 28, | ||
2013, at the age of 85; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of V. G. and Elouise Woolsey, Bob Woolsey was | ||
born on March 7, 1928, and graduated from Corpus Christi High School | ||
in 1945; he attended Del Mar College, and he earned his bachelor's | ||
and juris doctor degrees from Southern Methodist University, where | ||
he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and wrote for the law | ||
journal; following his graduation from law school, he joined the | ||
firm of Kleberg, Mobley, Lockett & Weil in Corpus Christi; and | ||
WHEREAS, Answering his country's call to duty, Mr. Woolsey | ||
joined the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and | ||
served in Korea and Okinawa, Japan, as a first lieutenant; in 1954, | ||
he resumed his civilian career, specializing in admiralty and | ||
maritime law, and continued his practice until his retirement in | ||
1996; active in his professional community, he was a proctor member | ||
of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and a member of | ||
the Federation of Insurance Counsel; and | ||
WHEREAS, A lifelong congregant of the First United Methodist | ||
Church in Corpus Christi, Mr. Woolsey sang in its choir for 65 | ||
years, taught music in all of the adult Sunday school classes, and | ||
held leadership positions on many boards and committees; in | ||
addition to his involvement at the local level, he served the | ||
Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church as a | ||
member of the board of pensions, the council on finance and | ||
administration, and the board of trustees; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Bob Woolsey will be deeply missed, | ||
cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in | ||
the hearts of all those who had the good fortune to know him; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert W. Woolsey and | ||
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, | ||
Wyona Lange Woolsey; to his children, R. Michael Woolsey and Susan | ||
Kavanaugh; to his stepson, Jerry Ellison, Sr.; to his four | ||
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and to his other | ||
relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bob | ||
Woolsey. | ||
