R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Public-spirited citizens from across the Lone Star
  State gathered in Austin on April 9, 2013, to advocate for women and
  their families during Blue Ribbon Lobby Day at the Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Led by organizers Diane Mosier, president of River
  Oaks Area Democratic Women, and Lize Burr, president of Capitol
  Area Democratic Women, and joined by concerned women and leaders
  from around the state, Blue Ribbon Lobby Day was created to bring
  attention to issues important to Texan women, including public
  education, health care, and economic well-being; Dallas-area
  representatives included Carmen Ayala, Kim Morris, Tarsha Hardy,
  Mary Warren, Carol Jablonski, Cindy James, and Janice Schwarz; and
         WHEREAS, During this day of action, progressive and
  Democratic women met with state legislators to discuss the message
  that women are integral to the economic success of this state, and
  that the state's continued prosperity depends on ensuring that
  women have equal opportunities and that their rights are equally
  protected; and
         WHEREAS, Those in attendance wore blue to signify their
  support of the cause and to raise awareness of a number of
  disheartening statistics, including that Texas has the highest
  percentage of uninsured women in the country and that more than a
  fourth of all Texas children live in poverty; and
         WHEREAS, Blue Ribbon Lobby Day helps to raise the voices and
  call attention to the concerns of women and their families, and the
  event stands as a testament to the positive difference that engaged
  Texas women can make; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Carmen Ayala, Kim Morris, Tarsha Hardy,
  Mary Warren, Carol Jablonski, Cindy James, and Janice Schwarz for
  their participation in Blue Ribbon Lobby Day 2013 and extend to them
  sincere best wishes for the future.
