WHEREAS, Milton Y. Tate Jr. is stepping down as mayor of | ||
Brenham in 2023, drawing to a close two decades of dedicated service | ||
to the city; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Tate first became mayor in September 2003, when | ||
he completed the unexpired term of the late Walter Schwartz, and he | ||
was elected to his first full term in 2005; demonstrating strong | ||
leadership over the course of his tenure, he has ably guided the | ||
city's growth and served his fellow citizens with distinction; and | ||
WHEREAS, In addition to his responsibilities as mayor, | ||
Mr. Tate has enjoyed a successful legal career; he has worked in | ||
private practice and previously served as county attorney for | ||
Washington County and as city attorney for the City of Brenham; over | ||
the years, he has given generously of his time and talents to the | ||
Brenham Rotary Club and several organizations affiliated with The | ||
University of Texas; moreover, he is a former member of the board of | ||
directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority, the | ||
Brenham/Washington County Economic Development Organization, and | ||
Trinity Medical Center; he holds a bachelor's degree in business | ||
administration from UT, and he is a 1963 graduate of the UT School | ||
of Law; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Tate enjoys the love and | ||
support of a fine family that includes his wife, Twila, and their | ||
daughters and grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Milton Tate has greatly benefited the residents of | ||
Brenham through his visionary leadership, expertise, and | ||
commitment to excellence, and he may indeed reflect with pride on | ||
his many contributions as he begins the next exciting chapter of his | ||
life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend Milton Y. Tate Jr. on his service as | ||
mayor of Brenham and extend to him sincere best wishes for the | ||
future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Tate as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
