R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned five
  decades, Jim and Linda Parker of Golden are celebrating their 50th
  wedding anniversary on April 17, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Orange, Linda Carol Hughes grew up in
  Golden, and after graduating from Alba-Golden High School in 1962,
  she attended business school and went to work in Tyler; Jim Parker
  was born in Dallas, graduated from high school in Anton in 1962, and
  studied at Jacksonville College; and
         WHEREAS, The couple met at the Piggly Wiggly in Mineola in
  October of 1964, and after their first date eight days later,
  Mr. Parker ordered a ring; the couple were engaged by December, and
  they were married the following April at Golden Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, For 41 years, the couple have lived near the farm
  where Mrs. Parker grew up, and Mr. Parker served as the pastor of
  Sand Springs Baptist Church for three decades before retiring; they
  count among their blessings a fine family that includes three
  children, James Parker, Rhonda Gonzalez, and Alice Harpold, 15
  grandchildren, Tamela, Julia, Anna, Olivia, Gavin, Jacob, Nick,
  Adrian, Ryan, Emily, Elena, Alyssa, Cody, Paige, and Mitchell, and
  a great-grandchild, Isaac; and
         WHEREAS, Looking back over the past 50 years, Jim and Linda
  Parker can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and know that
  the strength of their love and commitment ensures that many more
  joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jim and Linda Parker on their
  golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Parker as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
