| WHEREAS, Thomas Cooper has been named the recipient of the | ||
| Silver Beaver Award by the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of | ||
| America; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This distinguished service commendation pays | ||
| tribute to individuals who have made a positive difference in the | ||
| lives of Texas youth through their dedicated work in behalf of the | ||
| council; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient, Mr. Cooper has shared | ||
| his time and talents with the organization through his service as a | ||
| cubmaster, scoutmaster, committee chair, and charter organization | ||
| representative; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Cooper attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1973, | ||
| has earned the District Award of Merit, and has completed the Wood | ||
| Badge training course; he is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of | ||
| the Arrow and has served as the Gray Owl District chair and | ||
| nominating chair; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In addition to his scouting activities, he has been | ||
| the chair of the board of the Baylor Medical Center of Garland and | ||
| president of the board of the Garland Independent School District | ||
| BEST Education Foundation; moreover, he has held the office of | ||
| president of the Noon Exchange Club of Garland, and he has | ||
| volunteered with a number of other community and religious | ||
| organizations; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Many young people have benefited from the | ||
| leadership, commitment, and enthusiasm of Thomas Cooper, and it is | ||
| a pleasure to join in acknowledging his exceptional contributions | ||
| to the Boy Scouts of America; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas Cooper on his receipt of the | ||
| Silver Beaver Award from the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of | ||
| America and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Cooper as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
