WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and | ||
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends | ||
of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. of Houston, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at | ||
the age of 78; and | ||
WHEREAS, Cliff Cobb was born in Harlingen to Jessie B. Martin | ||
and Sir Clifton Cobb Sr. on July 17, 1944; as a child, he moved with | ||
his mother to Taylor, where he grew up with his grandmother and | ||
extended family; and | ||
WHEREAS, A 1962 graduate of Price High School, Mr. Cobb | ||
continued his education at Texas Southern University, earning a | ||
degree in finance in 1966; after living in New York City for a time, | ||
he returned to Texas and enjoyed a successful career with Tenneco | ||
Oil Company that spanned 25 years; he also joined a human resources | ||
independent contract company; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cobb drew strength from | ||
the rewarding marriage that he shared with his wife, Deanna | ||
Perdue-Cobb; he was the father of five children, Darryl, Corey, | ||
Cristi, Robin, and the late Ronald B. Cobb, and his family | ||
eventually grew to include 10 grandchildren and 4 | ||
great-grandchildren; an aficionado of wine and cigars, Mr. Cobb | ||
also enjoyed sports, fishing, and barbecuing; and | ||
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Cliff Cobb | ||
leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far | ||
richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured | ||
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. | ||
and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cliff Cobb. | ||
