R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of James L. Johnston of Kingwood, who passed away on
  April 30, 2023, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on
  August 26, 1939, Jim Johnston was the son of James and Dorothea
  Johnston; he grew up with the companionship of three siblings,
  Nancy, Kenny, and Patti Ann, and he went on to attend the University
  of Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnston answered his country's call to duty
  during the Vietnam War and served as a captain in the United States
  Air Force; after returning to civilian life, he pursued a career in
  financial planning and insurance sales; outside of work, he enjoyed
  such activities as hunting, camping, and riding motorcycles; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Johnston was blessed with
  the love and support of his wife, Lanelle Johnston, whom he married
  in 1962; he was the proud father of a son, James, and his cherished
  family further included a number of grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Although Jim Johnston is deeply missed, he has left
  his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever
  treasure; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James L. Johnston and
  extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim
  Johnston.
