WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their | ||
memories of James L. Johnston of Kingwood, who passed away on | ||
April 30, 2023, at the age of 83; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on | ||
August 26, 1939, Jim Johnston was the son of James and Dorothea | ||
Johnston; he grew up with the companionship of three siblings, | ||
Nancy, Kenny, and Patti Ann, and he went on to attend the University | ||
of Houston; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnston answered his country's call to duty | ||
during the Vietnam War and served as a captain in the United States | ||
Air Force; after returning to civilian life, he pursued a career in | ||
financial planning and insurance sales; outside of work, he enjoyed | ||
such activities as hunting, camping, and riding motorcycles; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Johnston was blessed with | ||
the love and support of his wife, Lanelle Johnston, whom he married | ||
in 1962; he was the proud father of a son, James, and his cherished | ||
family further included a number of grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Jim Johnston is deeply missed, he has left | ||
his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever | ||
treasure; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James L. Johnston and | ||
extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim | ||
Johnston. | ||
