R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Al Borrego of El Paso has distinguished himself as a
  gifted and accomplished artist, and his creative work has earned
  the admiration of his fellow Texans; and
         WHEREAS, An El Paso native and self-taught artist,
  Mr. Borrego began painting in June 2007; he has since exhibited his
  work in many venues, and he is very involved in the local cultural
  scene; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Borrego played a key role in the development of
  the San Elizario Historic District in the Mission Valley, which
  draws many visitors to its artist studios, galleries, gift shops,
  restaurants, and other attractions; the recipient of the 2010
  McDonald's Hispanos Triunfadores Award for the arts, he has served
  as president of the El Paso Art Association and as a member of the
  Rio Bravo Watercolorists Society and the Juntos Art Association,
  among other groups; and
         WHEREAS, Al Borrego's talent and passion for his craft are
  reflected in the impressive body of work that he has created over
  the course of his career, and his dedicated efforts have furthered
  the Lone Star State's reputation for excellence in the arts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Al Borrego for his artistic achievements
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Borrego as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
