| WHEREAS, Robert Simonson was selected to serve as the first | ||
| paid chief of the Lumberton Fire Department, and he began his tenure | ||
| in this position on May 13, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A Lumberton resident for the past 16 years, Chief | ||
| Simonson brings with him some three decades of experience in the | ||
| fire service; he most recently worked as the fire technology | ||
| program coordinator at the Lamar Institute of Technology, where he | ||
| previously served as an instructor in the fire academy; before | ||
| that, he spent 24 years as a member of the Houston Fire Department; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Among Chief Simonson's responsibilities is | ||
| overseeing two paid firefighters as well as 30 to 40 volunteers; | ||
| moreover, he is reaching out to emergency management departments | ||
| throughout the county in an effort to facilitate mutual aid | ||
| agreements; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The citizens of Lumberton are fortunate to have an | ||
| individual of Robert Simonson's skill and dedication leading their | ||
| fire department, and it is a pleasure to honor him on attaining this | ||
| milestone in his outstanding public safety career; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Simonson on his appointment | ||
| as chief of the Lumberton Fire Department and extend to him sincere | ||
| best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Chief Simonson as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
