WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced | ||
by a great and enduring love, Hector and Maria Morales of San | ||
Antonio are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 24, | ||
2011; and | ||
WHEREAS, Married in 1961 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, | ||
Hector Agustin Morales and the former Maria Hilaria Saenz came to | ||
the United States in 1967 to forge new opportunities and a more | ||
promising future for themselves and their children; remaining | ||
dedicated to that worthwhile goal, they instilled the values of | ||
integrity, hard work, and education in their daughters, Elida and | ||
Magdalena, and their son, Hector, all of whom have excelled | ||
professionally; today, their wisdom and guidance also benefits | ||
their grandchildren, Melisa, Crystal, Ramon, and Marissa, who have | ||
each graduated from high school and attended college; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Morales held a number of jobs through | ||
the years to support their family; she worked in a clothing factory | ||
and in the food service industry, while he farmed, worked in the | ||
hotel service industry, and was employed by the Federal Reserve | ||
Bank and the South San Antonio Independent School District; in | ||
retirement, Mrs. Morales has pursued her favorite pastimes of | ||
reading and traveling, and today, with the help of her | ||
grandchildren, she is learning to use the computer; Mr. Morales, | ||
who has been an avid recycler since long before it became | ||
fashionable, can often be found playing the guitar or harmonica; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, The couple have been valued residents of the Alamo | ||
City for more than 40 years; they are active in the community, and | ||
since becoming naturalized U.S. citizens in 1999, they exercise the | ||
right to vote at every opportunity and encourage others to do the | ||
same; and | ||
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past | ||
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant | ||
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love | ||
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with | ||
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Hector and Maria Morales of San Antonio on | ||
their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best | ||
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
