WHEREAS, Colonel Amy F. Cook of Salado has been appointed | ||
Brigade Commander for the Training Center Garrison Command of the | ||
Texas Army National Guard; and | ||
WHEREAS, This accomplished Texan has served most recently as | ||
the State Public Affairs Officer in both her part-time military | ||
assignment and full-time civilian position with the Texas Military | ||
Forces; she previously distinguished herself in a number of | ||
important positions, among them Deputy United States Property and | ||
Fiscal Officer for Texas, Commander of Joint Task Force Lone Star in | ||
Bagram, Afghanistan, and Commander of the 136 Military Police | ||
Battalion (Internment and Resettlement); and | ||
WHEREAS, Colonel Cook, a California native, enlisted in the | ||
United States Army in 1986 and was commissioned as a Military Police | ||
Officer in 1992 through Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, | ||
Georgia; she was stationed for many years at Fort Bliss, and her | ||
active-duty assignments included service as executive officer for | ||
the 6th Region Criminal Investigations Division and as Company | ||
Commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Company; in addition to | ||
a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University, she holds a | ||
law degree from Seattle University, and she has completed a host of | ||
advanced training programs; currently, she is a student in the | ||
Distance Learning Program of the United States Army War College, | ||
class of 2013; among her numerous decorations are the Bronze Star | ||
Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals, two Washington Army | ||
National Guard Meritorious Service Medals, and the Army Reserve | ||
Components Achievement Medal; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through her exceptional leadership and dedication, | ||
Colonel Cook has greatly benefited the Texas Army National Guard, | ||
and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize her significant | ||
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Colonel Amy F. Cook on her | ||
appointment as Brigade Commander for the Training Center Garrison | ||
Command of the Texas Army National Guard and extend to her sincere | ||
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Colonel Cook as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
