R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Representatives of Baylor University are gathering
  in Austin on February 25, 2025, for Baylor Day at the State Capitol;
  and
         WHEREAS, Baylor University was established on February 1,
  1845, by an act of the Congress of the Republic of Texas; it is the
  oldest continuously operating university in the state, and the
  vision of the university's founders and the ongoing commitment of
  generations of students and scholars are reflected in the motto
  inscribed on the Baylor seal: "Pro Ecclesia, Pro Texana, Pro
  Mundo," or "For the Church, For Texas, For the World"; and
         WHEREAS, This private Christian university provides a
  thriving campus community for more than 20,000 students; it offers
  133 undergraduate degree programs, 82 master's programs, 50
  doctoral programs, and a wide array of preprofessional tracks and
  specialized academic opportunities; it is classified as a doctoral
  university with Very High Research Activity, or a Research 1
  institution, by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of
  Higher Education, and Baylor in Deeds, the university's strategic
  plan that was adopted in 2024, is committed to equipping students to
  flourish, to broadening interdisciplinary research and impact, to
  building a vibrant, caring, and global community, and to
  demonstrating Christian stewardship; and
         WHEREAS, Baylor University is also home to a variety of
  exceptional athletic programs, with more than 500 student-athletes
  participating in 19 sports; Baylor's teams compete at the highest
  level and consistently rank among the Big 12's and the nation's
  best; the university has claimed numerous individual championships
  and 15 team national championships, and in 2024, the acrobatics and
  tumbling team won its ninth consecutive NCATA national title; and
         WHEREAS, The school's outstanding academic and athletics
  programs, combined with a faculty dedicated to teaching,
  scholarship, and research, have served to create an institution
  with an international reputation for educational excellence, and it
  is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing Baylor University for
  its myriad achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 25, 2025, as Baylor Day at
  the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere
  best wishes for an informative and enjoyable stay in Austin.
