| WHEREAS, Members of the Bartlett High School chapter of the | ||
| Family, Career and Community Leaders of America have distinguished | ||
| themselves through their participation in the LifeSmarts State and | ||
| National Championship competitions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, LifeSmarts is a consumer education program for | ||
| middle and high school students in which participants study and are | ||
| assessed on five topic areas: personal finance, consumer rights, | ||
| health and safety, technology, and the environment; after advancing | ||
| through online events, students are invited to take part in live | ||
| team competitions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of the team that won the 2024 LifeSmarts | ||
| State Championship title for Bartlett High School were Sharon | ||
| Clawson, Deeaja Monfort, Jaxon Bernstein, Dylan Brown, and Makaela | ||
| Russell; they were then invited to compete at the National | ||
| LifeSmarts Championship in San Diego, California, where they placed | ||
| ninth; the team represented one of only two schools from Texas in | ||
| attendance; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In January 2025, Bartlett High School placed first | ||
| for the third year in a row at the LifeSmarts State Championship, | ||
| qualifying them to compete in April at the National LifeSmarts | ||
| Championship in Chicago, Illinois; the FCCLA LifeSmarts team | ||
| members for the 2024-2025 academic year include Dylan Brown, Sharon | ||
| Clawson, Jaxon Bernstein, Zachary Huebner, and Makaela Russell; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the recent state and | ||
| national LifeSmarts competitions, these outstanding young Texans | ||
| have demonstrated great initiative and ability, and they may indeed | ||
| look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the Bartlett High School FCCLA | ||
| LifeSmarts champions on their achievements and extend to them | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Bartlett High School FCCLA LifeSmarts competition | ||
| team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives. | ||
