WHEREAS, The Bishop Arts District of Oak Cliff in Dallas is | ||
welcoming a vibrant addition to its retail scene with the grand | ||
opening of the Bishop Arts Winery on June 22, 2013; and | ||
WHEREAS, Occupying a vintage 80-year-old building, this | ||
notable new establishment will feature a diverse collection of | ||
wines from vineyards across the state, including its own brand of | ||
red and white wines crafted from Texas-grown grapes, and plans to | ||
have regular wine tastings; and | ||
WHEREAS, The winery's opening represents the culmination of a | ||
two-year-long effort on the part of owner Elias Rodriguez and his | ||
wife, Dolores; a resident of the Oak Cliff area since childhood, | ||
Mr. Rodriguez developed his interest in winemaking after spending | ||
time with a German family as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the | ||
1980s; and | ||
WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated businesses play a vital | ||
role in the state's economic prosperity while also enhancing the | ||
cultural landscape of their communities, and it is indeed a | ||
pleasure to recognize this promising new venture as it opens its | ||
doors; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Elias and | ||
Dolores Rodriguez on the opening of their new business, the Bishop | ||
Arts Winery, and extend to them sincere best wishes for success; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard | ||
by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
