| WHEREAS, The Bishop Arts District of Oak Cliff in Dallas is | ||
| welcoming a vibrant addition to its retail scene with the grand | ||
| opening of the Bishop Arts Winery on June 22, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Occupying a vintage 80-year-old building, this | ||
| notable new establishment will feature a diverse collection of | ||
| wines from vineyards across the state, including its own brand of | ||
| red and white wines crafted from Texas-grown grapes, and plans to | ||
| have regular wine tastings; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The winery's opening represents the culmination of a | ||
| two-year-long effort on the part of owner Elias Rodriguez and his | ||
| wife, Dolores; a resident of the Oak Cliff area since childhood, | ||
| Mr. Rodriguez developed his interest in winemaking after spending | ||
| time with a German family as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the | ||
| 1980s; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated businesses play a vital | ||
| role in the state's economic prosperity while also enhancing the | ||
| cultural landscape of their communities, and it is indeed a | ||
| pleasure to recognize this promising new venture as it opens its | ||
| doors; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Elias and | ||
| Dolores Rodriguez on the opening of their new business, the Bishop | ||
| Arts Winery, and extend to them sincere best wishes for success; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard | ||
| by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
