| WHEREAS, Adam Wall, a member of the Kaufman Police | ||
| Department, was honored for his courageous actions in the line of | ||
| duty with a Meritorious Service Award in May 2022; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Officer Wall was serving on the Kaufman Independent | ||
| School District police force at the time of the incident on | ||
| April 11, 2022, when he intervened to prevent a reckless driver | ||
| from entering a school zone; the suspect, a 37-year-old man, was | ||
| pursued by police before ultimately being arrested after a brief | ||
| standoff on U.S. Highway 175; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Upon witnessing the driver approaching the school | ||
| zone near two Kaufman campuses on South Houston Street, Officer | ||
| Wall acted quickly to position his patrol vehicle to block the | ||
| driver's path; the suspect was later determined to be driving while | ||
| heavily intoxicated; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Kaufman community is fortunate to have such | ||
| exceptional public servants as Adam Wall, whose swift and decisive | ||
| response helped prevent what could have been a tragic turn of | ||
| events, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for his | ||
| heroism; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Kaufman police officer Adam Wall on | ||
| his receipt of a Meritorious Service Award and commend him for his | ||
| brave and selfless actions on April 11, 2022; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Officer Wall as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
