R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Bill Brabbin of Abilene on January 24, 2017, at the age
  of 88; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Milford and Thelma Brabbin, Bill Brabbin
  was born in Merkel on November 8, 1928, and grew up with the
  companionship of three brothers, Donald, Fred, and Jerry; he
  answered his nation's call to duty in 1946 and served overseas in
  Guam and Tokyo before his military discharge in 1949; and
         WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Brabbin
  established the Brabbin Construction Company, and he spent over
  half a century building homes in Abilene and Brownwood; he
  contributed to his professional community as president of the Big
  Country Home Builders Association, the Abilene Home Builders
  Association, and the Abilene Association of Realtors and as a
  director of the National Association of Home Builders; an honorary
  member of BCHBA, he was presented with the 1995 Raymond Thomason
  Award and was twice voted Builder of the Year by that organization;
  moreover, he was given the 2007 Ted Schlossman Lifetime Achievement
  Award and named an honored life director by the Texas Association of
  Builders, of which he was a member for over 50 years; this esteemed
  Texan further distinguished himself through his involvement with
  many civic organizations, and he was a valued congregant of
  Southern Hills Church of Christ; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Brabbin enjoyed a long and rewarding marriage
  with his wife, Jean George, before her passing in 2013; over the
  years, they were blessed with a family that included their son, Bob
  Brabbin, and his wife, Billie, as well as three grandchildren,
  Beau, Baron, and Lea, and three great-grandchildren, Brailynn,
  Christian, and Bailey; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, an engaged member of his
  community, and a successful entrepreneur, Bill Brabbin leaves
  behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the good
  fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill Brabbin and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family and to his
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
  Brabbin.
