| WHEREAS, The 14th annual Texas Association of First | ||
| Responders Wild Game Cook-Off is taking place in Hempstead at the | ||
| Waller County Fairgrounds on April 14 and 15, 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance as one | ||
| of the organization's state championship cook-offs, this | ||
| much-anticipated event attracts talented pitmasters from across | ||
| Texas who put their skills to the test as they vie to produce the | ||
| tastiest entries in several different categories; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The event's grand champion will receive an | ||
| invitation to the American Royal World Series of Barbecue contest | ||
| as well as a chance to compete at the Jack Daniel's World | ||
| Championship Invitational Barbecue competition; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Wild Game Cook-Off serves as a fundraiser for | ||
| the Texas Association of First Responders, an all-volunteer | ||
| nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to law | ||
| enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical services | ||
| personnel injured in the line of duty; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the | ||
| Texas Association of First Responders Wild Game Cook-Off is sure to | ||
| offer everyone in attendance the chance to enjoy good food and good | ||
| times while supporting a worthy cause; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commemorate the 2023 Texas Association of First | ||
| Responders Wild Game Cook-Off and extend to the organizers, | ||
| contestants, and attendees sincere best wishes for a fun and | ||
| successful event. | ||
