WHEREAS, Robert Finn is stepping down as chief of the police | ||
services division of the Southlake Department of Public Safety in | ||
June 2011 to accept a new opportunity, drawing to a close a notable | ||
career in public service that has spanned nearly a quarter-century; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Chief Finn grew up in Southlake, where he graduated | ||
from Carroll High School in 1985; he went on to earn a bachelor's | ||
degree from the University of North Texas in 2001 and a master's | ||
degree in business administration from Grand Canyon University in | ||
2010; he is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has | ||
pursued legal studies at the University of Virginia; and | ||
WHEREAS, This outstanding public servant joined Southlake | ||
DPS in 1987, and through the years he distinguished himself in a | ||
variety of posts, including volunteer firefighter, emergency | ||
medical technician, and professional firefighter; he was the city's | ||
fire chief from 2002 to 2008, and in August 2008, he became | ||
Southlake's chief of police; under his leadership, the city's fire | ||
and police services earned international accreditation, and he also | ||
helped oversee the completion of the DPS headquarters and the | ||
development of the department's command staff; and | ||
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Chief Finn has | ||
also found time to contribute to the community as a member of the | ||
board of trustees for Metroport Meals on Wheels and as a member of | ||
the Southlake Rotary Club and the Southlake Chamber of Commerce; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Robert Finn's dedication, professionalism, and | ||
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of | ||
Southlake and earned him the respect and admiration of his | ||
colleagues, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well | ||
spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Chief Robert | ||
Finn on his outstanding tenure with the Southlake Department of | ||
Public Safety and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
success and happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Chief Finn as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
