WHEREAS, The Timberwolf Marching Band of Cedar Park High | ||
School continued its proud tradition of excellence by claiming the | ||
5A state championship at the 2023 University Interscholastic League | ||
State Open Class Marching Band Contest, held November 7 at the | ||
Alamodome in San Antonio; and | ||
WHEREAS, Joining the other top competitors from across the | ||
Lone Star State, the Cedar Park High band members impressed the | ||
panel of judges, achieving a total score of 14 to take home the | ||
coveted Class 5A championship; and | ||
WHEREAS, The victory marked the sixth state title for the | ||
Timberwolves since 2011; moreover, the Cedar Park ensemble has also | ||
excelled in numerous other competitions through the years, and | ||
during the fall of 2023, it turned in strong performances at the | ||
Bands of America Austin Regional and San Antonio Super Regional | ||
contests; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Timberwolf Marching Band includes more than 220 | ||
wind players, percussionists, and color guard members; these | ||
talented and determined performers benefit from the leadership of | ||
Cedar Park High School's director of bands, Christopher Yee, | ||
associate directors Kendall Santos and Jeremiah Armstrong, and | ||
director of percussion, Roland Chavez; and | ||
WHEREAS, The members of the Cedar Park High School Timberwolf | ||
Marching Band have distinguished themselves through their skill and | ||
dedication, and their recognition as one of the best marching bands | ||
in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their school and their | ||
community; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Cedar Park | ||
High School Timberwolf Marching Band on winning the 5A state | ||
championship at the 2023 UIL State Open Class Marching Band Contest | ||
and that all those involved with the ensemble be extended sincere | ||
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
