education grant. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 29, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 29.2021 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 29.2021. TRANSPORTATION. (a) The school district in | ||
which a student resides shall: | ||
(1) provide to each student attending another school | ||
in the district under this subchapter transportation free of charge | ||
to and from the school the student attends; and | ||
(2) provide to each student attending a school in a | ||
contiguous district under this subchapter transportation free of | ||
charge to and from a site on which the contiguous district and the | ||
district in which the student resides mutually agree. | ||
(b) A school district that provides transportation services | ||
for students under Subsection (a)(1) is entitled to reimbursement | ||
based on the number of actual miles traveled times the per mile rate | ||
authorized by Section 42.155(f). | ||
(c) A school district in which a student resides that | ||
provides transportation to and from a site in accordance with | ||
Subsection (a)(2) is entitled to reimbursement based on the number | ||
of actual miles traveled times the per mile rate authorized by | ||
Section 42.155(f). | ||
(d) A school district contiguous to the district in which a | ||
student resides shall provide to each student that attends a school | ||
in the contiguous district transportation free of charge to and | ||
from the site described in Subsection (a)(2). | ||
SECTION 2. Subsection (f), Section 29.203, Education Code, | ||
is repealed. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
