medical services personnel in certain counties. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter K, Chapter 2306, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 2306.2595 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 2306.2595. HOUSING VOUCHER PROGRAM FOR EMERGENCY | ||
MEDICAL SERVICES PERSONNEL. (a) In this section, "emergency | ||
medical services personnel" has the meaning assigned by Section | ||
773.003, Health and Safety Code. | ||
(b) The department shall, using available resources, | ||
establish a housing voucher program in a county with a population of | ||
more than 1 million and less than 1.5 million to provide housing | ||
vouchers to emergency medical services personnel. | ||
(c) The department shall adopt rules: | ||
(1) governing the program's administration; | ||
(2) establishing eligibility criteria for a person to | ||
receive a housing voucher under the program; | ||
(3) establishing a mechanism to determine the amount | ||
of a housing voucher provided under the program; and | ||
(4) prescribing any other program requirements the | ||
department determines necessary. | ||
(d) The department may accepts gifts, grants, and donations | ||
from any source to establish and operate the program. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
