| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 301.157, Occupations Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (b-2) to read as follows: | ||
| (b-2) The programs of study prescribed by the board under | ||
| Subsections (a) and (b) must include a requirement that a student in | ||
| the program complete a minimum number of clinical hours at a | ||
| long-term care facility as defined by Section 255.001, Health and | ||
| Safety Code, including a tour of a long-term care facility. | ||
| SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2023, the Texas Board | ||
| of Nursing shall adopt rules as necessary to implement Section | ||
| 301.157(b-2), Occupations Code, as added by this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
