relating to an exemption from the plumbing licensing law for | ||
rainwater harvesting by a property owner. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 1301, Occupations Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 1301.059 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 1301.059. RAINWATER HARVESTING BY PROPERTY OWNER. (a) | ||
A person is not required to be licensed under this chapter to | ||
harvest, store, distribute, treat, or use rainwater for any purpose | ||
on property owned by the person if the rainwater is separated from | ||
all public water supplies. | ||
(b) The exemption under Subsection (a) includes the | ||
installation, service, or repair of plumbing used for rainwater, | ||
including plumbing associated with the treatment, use, or | ||
distribution use of rainwater to supply a plumbing fixture or | ||
appliance, if the plumbing is not connected to a public water | ||
supply. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
