| hospitals. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 191, Health and Safety | ||
| Code, is amended by adding Section 191.012 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 191.012. DEATH INFORMATION PROVIDED TO CERTAIN | ||
| HOSPITALS. (a) The department shall implement an efficient and | ||
| effective procedure to provide death information to a hospital | ||
| licensed under Chapter 241 to assist with the hospital's | ||
| participation in the Medicaid managed care program operated under | ||
| Chapter 540, Government Code. | ||
| (b) The procedure implemented under Subsection (a) at a | ||
| minimum must provide the following information for each deceased | ||
| person for whom a death certificate is filed with a local registrar | ||
| in this state: | ||
| (1) the county of residence of the deceased; | ||
| (2) the date of birth of the deceased; and | ||
| (3) the full name of the deceased. | ||
| SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act | ||
| a state agency determines a waiver or authorization from a federal | ||
| agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, the | ||
| agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or | ||
| authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the | ||
| waiver or authorization is granted. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
