relating to the disclosure of investigation and proceeding | ||
information by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 33.036, Government Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(a) To protect the public interest, the commission may | ||
disclose information relating to an investigation or proceeding | ||
under this chapter to: | ||
(1) a law enforcement agency; | ||
(2) a public official who is authorized or required by | ||
law to appoint a person to serve as a judge; | ||
(3) the supreme court; [ |

(4) an entity that provides commission-ordered | ||
education to judges; or | ||
(5) the State Bar of Texas. | ||
(c) The State Bar of Texas may use information disclosed to | ||
the state bar under this section only to investigate and dispose of | ||
a complaint as provided by Subchapter E, Chapter 81. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
