relating to the manufacture of voting machines by certain foreign | ||
persons. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 122.0331, Election Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | ||
(e) A manufacturer of voting systems used in an election may | ||
not enter into a contract, or extend or renew a contract, for | ||
software development services with: | ||
(1) a company or other entity headquartered in China, | ||
Cuba, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; or | ||
(2) an individual who is based in China, Cuba, Iran, | ||
North Korea, or Russia. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
