counties using admission fees charged at state parks. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 11, Local Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Chapter 354 to read as follows: | ||
CHAPTER 354. EMERGENCY SERVICES IN RURAL COUNTIES | ||
SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS | ||
Sec. 354.001. APPLICABILITY. This chapter applies only to | ||
a county with: | ||
(1) a population of less than 20,000 that is adjacent | ||
to a county with an international border; | ||
(2) a state park; and | ||
(3) an interstate highway. | ||

SUBCHAPTER B. STATE PARKS | ||
Sec. 354.051. ADMISSION TO PARK; USE OF MONEY FOR EMERGENCY | ||
SERVICES. (a) The Parks and Wildlife Department shall use $1 from | ||
the admission to a state park in the county for the purposes | ||
described by this section. Revenue collected under this section | ||
and deposited in the state parks account under Section 11.035, | ||
Parks and Wildlife Code, may be appropriated only to the department | ||
to award grants to a county that provides emergency services that | ||
directly or indirectly benefit the park. | ||
(b) The county shall use the money to pay for emergency | ||
services provided by the county in the county, including emergency | ||
services provided by volunteers. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
