relating to information regarding the number of public school | ||
students receiving certain special education services. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 42.006, Education Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (a-1) and adding Subsection (a-2) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(a-1) The commissioner by rule shall require each school | ||
district and open-enrollment charter school to report through the | ||
Public Education Information Management System information | ||
regarding: | ||
(1) the number of students enrolled in the district or | ||
school who are identified as having dyslexia; | ||
(2) the number of students enrolled in the district or | ||
school who are covered by Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 | ||
(29 U.S.C. Section 794); and | ||
(3) the number of students enrolled in the district or | ||
school who are receiving assistance for learning difficulties | ||
through the use of response to intervention strategies. | ||
(a-2) The agency shall maintain the information provided | ||
under Subsection (a-1) in accordance with that [ |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
