BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 775.301, Health and Safety Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 775.301. DEFINITION. In this subchapter, | ||
"commissioners court" means the commissioners court of a county | ||
described by Section 775.302 [ |

SECTION 2. Section 775.302(a), Health and Safety Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) This subchapter applies only to a district with an | ||
appointed [ |
||
emergency services commissioners located wholly in a county that: | ||
(1) borders the United Mexican States and has a | ||
population of more than 800,000; or | ||
(2) contains a reservoir operated by a river authority | ||
and has a population of at least 60,000 and not more than 65,000 | ||

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
