| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 421, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 421.005 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 421.005. PERFORMANCE MEASURES FOR ASSESSING BORDER | ||
| OPERATIONS; REPORT. Each state agency participating in Operation | ||
| Lone Star or a successor border security operation shall develop | ||
| and implement performance measures as part of the agency's review | ||
| of its border operations and report its findings to the legislature | ||
| not later than January 30 of each year. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
