A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to requiring state agencies participating in Operation
  Lone Star to develop and report performance measures on the
  agency's operations.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 421, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 421.005 to read as follows:
         Sec. 421.005.  PERFORMANCE MEASURES FOR ASSESSING BORDER
  OPERATIONS; REPORT. Each state agency participating in Operation
  Lone Star or a successor border security operation shall develop
  and implement performance measures as part of the agency's review
  of its border operations and report its findings to the legislature
  not later than January 30 of each year.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
