| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 154.025, Local | ||
| Government Code, is amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) In this section, "debt" includes delinquent taxes, | ||
| fines, fees, and indebtedness arising from written agreements with | ||
| the county. The term includes delinquent property taxes whether | ||
| reduced to judgment or not. | ||
| SECTION 2. Subsection (a), Section 154.045, Local | ||
| Government Code, is amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) In this section, "debt" includes delinquent taxes, | ||
| fines, fees, and indebtedness arising from written agreements with | ||
| the county. The term includes delinquent property taxes whether | ||
| reduced to judgment or not. | ||
| SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | ||
| debt for which a notice of indebtedness is filed under Subsection | ||
| (b), Section 154.025, or Subsection (b), Section 154.045, Local | ||
| Government Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. Debt | ||
| for which notice of indebtedness is filed before the effective date | ||
| of this Act is governed by the law in effect when the notice was | ||
| filed, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
