BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 41.0022 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 41.0022. WEALTH PER STUDENT OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS WITH | ||
CERTAIN HIGH RATINGS. Notwithstanding any other provision of this | ||
chapter, if a school district with a current TXSmartSchools rating | ||
from the Texans for Positive Economic Policy of at least four stars | ||
on a five-star scale, or the equivalent of that rating under any | ||
subsequent system developed by the Texans for Positive Economic | ||
Policy, has a wealth per student that exceeds the equalized wealth | ||
level under Section 41.002(a)(1), (2), or (3), the commissioner | ||
shall consider the district to have, before exercising one or more | ||
options under Section 41.003, reduced the district's wealth per | ||
student by an amount equal to five percent of the difference between | ||
the district's wealth per student and the equalized wealth level | ||
under Section 41.002(a)(1), (2), or (3), as applicable. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
