| relating to the issuance of a concealed handgun license. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 411.177, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (b-1) Immediately after the decision is made under | ||
| Subsection (a) to issue a license to an applicant, the department | ||
| shall issue to the applicant a temporary license that is valid until | ||
| the applicant receives the license approved under Subsection (a). | ||
| A temporary license must be provided in an electronic format and | ||
| must include all of the information required by Section 411.179, | ||
| except that the photograph is not required to be in color. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 411.177(b-1), Government Code, as added | ||
| by this Act, applies only to an application decision that is made by | ||
| the Department of Public Safety on or after the effective date of | ||
| this Act. An application decision that is made before the effective | ||
| date of this Act is governed by the law in effect when the decision | ||
| was made, and the former law is continued in effect for that | ||
| purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
