A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the use by a school district or district employee of
  certain existing student curriculum materials developed or
  provided by a regional education service center.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 8, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 8.0532 to read as follows:
         Sec. 8.0532.  PROHIBITION ON SCHOOL DISTRICT USE OF
  CURRICULUM. Notwithstanding any other provision of this
  subchapter, a school district may not use or authorize its teachers
  or employees to use student curriculum products developed or
  provided before August 31, 2013, by a regional education service
  center acting in collaboration with one or more other regional
  education service centers.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
  legislative session.
