| proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing an appropriation | ||
| from the economic stabilization fund for education by a majority | ||
| vote. | ||
| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 49-g, Article III, Texas Constitution, | ||
| is amended by adding Subsection (m-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (m-1) In addition to the appropriation authority provided | ||
| by Subsections (k), (l), and (m) of this section, the legislature | ||
| may, by a majority vote of the members present in each house, | ||
| appropriate amounts from the economic stabilization fund at any | ||
| time for the purpose of funding higher education or public primary | ||
| and secondary education. | ||
| SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
| submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011. | ||
| The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
| proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing an | ||
| appropriation from the economic stabilization fund for education by | ||
| a majority vote." | ||
