| Eduardo Genis Aguilar | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Eduardo Genis | ||
| Aguilar, who died August 2, 2016, at the age of 79; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in 1936, Eduardo Aguilar was a longtime | ||
| resident of Brownsville; he touched the lives of others through | ||
| his kindness, his wise counsel, and his contributions to the | ||
| community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ed Aguilar was a respected educator who taught | ||
| Spanish and French at The University of Texas at Brownsville and | ||
| Texas Southmost College for many years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Ed served in a | ||
| number of leadership roles; he was a potentate of the local | ||
| Shriners chapter, and he was president of the West Brownsville | ||
| Lions Club; he was a congregant of the First United Methodist | ||
| Church, where he served on several boards and as the church | ||
| treasurer; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Ed Aguilar was | ||
| respected and admired by many, and he leaves behind memories that | ||
| will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his | ||
| life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Eduardo Genis Aguilar; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Eduardo Aguilar. | ||
