Dunk Jorden, Jr. | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Dunk Jorden, Jr., who | ||
died June 17, 2011, at the age of 85; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dunk Jorden was born January 15, 1926, in | ||
Lecompte, Louisiana; after attending school in Lecompte, he and | ||
his sister moved to Houston, and he became a resident of | ||
Independence Heights; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Jorden worked for a construction company and | ||
helped to build many of the buildings in downtown Houston; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devout Christian and was a member of the | ||
Bella Vista Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as church | ||
bus driver; he was also a member of the Baptist Training Union and | ||
the choir; and | ||
WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Dunk Jorden was a | ||
generous, kind-hearted person who was respected in the | ||
community; and | ||
WHEREAS, Known for his wisdom and compassion, he gave | ||
unselfishly to others, and he was devoted to his family; he was | ||
beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories that will be | ||
treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in his | ||
life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Dunk Jorden, Jr.; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of | ||
Dunk Jorden, Jr. | ||
