| WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Mesquite are visiting the | ||
| State Capitol on March 31 and April 1, 2015, and the occasion | ||
| provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, | ||
| Leadership Mesquite is a program that strives to educate | ||
| civic-minded individuals about city, county, and state | ||
| government; the course lasts nine months and involves citizens | ||
| who represent a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Leadership Mesquite works in cooperation with | ||
| such entities as the Mesquite Economic Development Board, Dallas | ||
| County Commissioners Court, Mesquite Independent School | ||
| District, and Eastfield College to sponsor different programs | ||
| every month to help members gain a better understanding of the | ||
| community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Each class chooses a special project to benefit | ||
| the community, and this year, the group is working with Texas | ||
| Mission of Mercy, a mobile dental clinic that travels around the | ||
| state to provide free basic dental care, including cleanings, | ||
| fillings, and extractions, to uninsured Texans; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of | ||
| volunteerism and community pride, Leadership Mesquite is | ||
| fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, and the program is | ||
| helping to build a brighter and more prosperous future for the | ||
| Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby recognize March 31 and April 1, 2015, as | ||
| Leadership Mesquite Days at the State Capitol and extend to all | ||
| the participants sincere best wishes for continued success. | ||
