| WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael Culling retired from the | ||
| Manvel Municipal Court in November 2022, drawing to a close a | ||
| distinguished career that has spanned five and a half decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After graduating with honors from the University | ||
| of Dallas, Mr. Culling earned his law degree in 1967 from The | ||
| University of Texas at Austin; he then took a position in the | ||
| contracts division of the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in | ||
| Houston, and he later worked for an oil and gas company before | ||
| setting up a private practice in Deer Park; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 1974, Mr. Culling was sworn in as the presiding | ||
| judge of Deer Park Municipal Court, and he has served as | ||
| presiding judge for the City of Manvel since 1996; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Culling has contributed to his professional | ||
| community as a member of the council for the Municipal Judges | ||
| Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and the | ||
| Brazoria County and Houston Bar Associations; he has also given | ||
| generously of his time and talents to the Alvin-Manvel Area | ||
| Chamber of Commerce and to the Deer Park Rotary Club, Jaycees, | ||
| and Chamber of Commerce; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Culling benefits from | ||
| the love and support of his wife, Jan; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout his years of service, Michael Culling | ||
| has distinguished himself through his exceptional skill and | ||
| dedication, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well | ||
| spent as he looks forward to the next exciting chapter of his | ||
| life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate Judge Michael Culling on his | ||
| retirement from the Manvel Municipal Court and extend to him | ||
| sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Culling as an expression of high regard from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
