Lewis Edward Cook III | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Lewis Edward Cook III, who died March 6, | ||
2011, at the age of 32; and | ||
WHEREAS, Lewis Edward Cook III was born January 4, 1979, in | ||
San Francisco, California; he graduated from San Francisco's | ||
University High School, where he was a four-time All-American | ||
swimmer; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Cook graduated with honors in economics from | ||
Princeton University in 2001; following his graduation, he lived | ||
in Austin, where he established himself in the real estate | ||
community through his work with the John Lewis Company; he went | ||
on to continue his education at Duke University Business School, | ||
earning a master of business administration degree and | ||
recognition as a Duke Scholar; and | ||
WHEREAS, He returned to Austin and the real estate | ||
industry, working at Simmons Vedder before establishing his own | ||
real estate investment company; he was active in the Real Estate | ||
Council of Austin, the Urban Land Institute, and the Young Men's | ||
Business League; and | ||
WHEREAS, A young man of courage, strength, and compassion, | ||
he gave generously to others, and his unquenchable curiosity, his | ||
ease with people from all walks of life, and his enthusiasm for | ||
living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who | ||
knew him; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was devoted to his family and friends, and he | ||
will long be remembered with affection and admiration by all who | ||
were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family and friends of Lewis Edward Cook III; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Lewis Cook. | ||
