SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 510
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Judith Holdt Markelz, who has been selected for
  induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her
  outstanding work as an innovative volunteer and community
  leader; and
         WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those
  women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio
  community and the Bexar County region through their
  accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and
         WHEREAS, An experienced volunteer for military and
  community educational programs, Judith Markelz serves as
  director of the Warrior and Family Support Center at Fort Sam
  Houston; she oversees the therapeutic resources and activities
  that the Warriors need for learning and relearning skills and the
  education and training that is necessary for their
  rehabilitation and transition; and
         WHEREAS, A respite for wounded soldiers, the center is a
  permanent facility serving a major role in military medical
  services; for her exceptional work, Judith Markelz has received
  numerous awards, including the Extra Mile Award and the
  Association of the United States Army's Exceptional Service
  Award in support of National Defense; and
         WHEREAS, Judith Markelz is highly respected for her
  dedication to her work and for her unique role as the director of
  this innovative army medical center, and her success is an
  inspiration to women across our state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Judith Holdt Markelz for her
  exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on
  her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
