SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 52
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Antonio Torres, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement
  from the Brownsville Police Department on May 31, 2011, after
  more than 29 years of loyal service; and
         WHEREAS, Antonio Torres, Jr., began his career as a police
  officer with the Brownsville Police Department in 1981; and
         WHEREAS, He was assigned to the Uniformed Services Command
  for the majority of his career as a motorcycle officer in the
  Traffic Enforcement Unit; in 2009, he was assigned as a patrol
  officer in the Patrol Division; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated and dependable police officer,
  Antonio Torres was constantly attentive to the welfare and safety
  of others and served the citizens of Brownsville with honor and
  courage; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he earned the
  admiration and respect of his colleagues and the citizens of his
  community, and his presence in the Brownsville Police Department
  will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Officer Antonio
  Torres, Jr., on his three decades of valuable service to the
  citizens of Brownsville as a member of the Brownsville Police
  Department and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years
  ahead; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
