| Betty Mattiza Eubanks | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Betty Mattiza Eubanks, who died June 11, | ||
| 2013, at the age of 80; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Betty Eubanks was born August 12, 1932, in | ||
| Cleburne, to Rudolph and Bettie Mattiza; she was an honors | ||
| graduate of Cleburne High School at the age of 16 and went on to | ||
| graduate cum laude from North Texas State University at the age | ||
| of 19; she married Sonny Eubanks on December 23, 1957, and the | ||
| couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage together; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Eubanks had a productive and fulfilling | ||
| career of more than 40 years as a third grade teacher with the | ||
| Fort Worth Independent School District; after her retirement, | ||
| she continued to serve students through her work with the | ||
| Computer Curriculum Corporation and the Catholic Diocese of Fort | ||
| Worth; she also served on the executive board of the Texas State | ||
| Teachers Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Eubanks was active in a variety of community | ||
| organizations, including the Kimbell Art Museum, the Fort Worth | ||
| Symphony Orchestra, and the Woman's Club of Fort Worth; she was a | ||
| seasoned traveler who loved the time she spent across the country | ||
| and abroad, and she was also a devoted follower of the Texas | ||
| Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Longhorns; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she | ||
| gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued | ||
| counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She will be deeply missed by her family and | ||
| friends, but she will live on in their hearts and minds; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
| condolences to the bereaved family of Betty Mattiza Eubanks; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Betty Mattiza Eubanks. | ||
