Betty Mattiza Eubanks | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Betty Mattiza Eubanks, who died June 11, | ||
2013, at the age of 80; and | ||
WHEREAS, Betty Eubanks was born August 12, 1932, in | ||
Cleburne, to Rudolph and Bettie Mattiza; she was an honors | ||
graduate of Cleburne High School at the age of 16 and went on to | ||
graduate cum laude from North Texas State University at the age | ||
of 19; she married Sonny Eubanks on December 23, 1957, and the | ||
couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage together; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Eubanks had a productive and fulfilling | ||
career of more than 40 years as a third grade teacher with the | ||
Fort Worth Independent School District; after her retirement, | ||
she continued to serve students through her work with the | ||
Computer Curriculum Corporation and the Catholic Diocese of Fort | ||
Worth; she also served on the executive board of the Texas State | ||
Teachers Association; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Eubanks was active in a variety of community | ||
organizations, including the Kimbell Art Museum, the Fort Worth | ||
Symphony Orchestra, and the Woman's Club of Fort Worth; she was a | ||
seasoned traveler who loved the time she spent across the country | ||
and abroad, and she was also a devoted follower of the Texas | ||
Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Longhorns; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she | ||
gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued | ||
counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and | ||
WHEREAS, She will be deeply missed by her family and | ||
friends, but she will live on in their hearts and minds; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Betty Mattiza Eubanks; and, | ||
be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Betty Mattiza Eubanks. | ||
